Salman quits liquor for holy Ramzan

September 13, 2008

Well Salman Khan is a news maker and whatever he is does is some thing different or big and this time he has done it again. The reason to hit the headlines is not bad but something good. The bad boy despite being in media for wrong reasons has turned in to a disciplined and dedicated person. He had decided to stay and strictly discard the liquor only for the month of Ramzan. This is to respect the holy month. Salman is a party lover and is known for throwing lavish parties to his near and dear ones. He likes to socialize with his friends and relatives and often enjoys to booze with them. Recently he diverted himself to religion and even got a ganpati at home to celebrate Ganesh Chartuthi with his family and relatives. Sallu miya wishes to seek blessing from Allah to safeguard his love relationship with beau Katrina. He also plans to tie a knot with her in next year.

It is assumed that another reason for his divine intervention in god is his sinking career. He has gone through a series of flops in the recent past. Career and love has made Salman to incline towards almighty.

Govinda slaps director

September 13, 2008

It is sometimes funny how these actors try showing off their superiority… A few months back, apna Chi Chi was accused of slapping someone on the sets of his flop film Money Hai To Honey Hai. Now what we hear is that the man has did it again…you know the Oops I did it again way….. It is being heard that Govinda slapped the director of his forth coming flick Run Bhola Run, Neeraj Vohra.

People on the sets describe it as an image issue. It was something like, there was a scene in which Aryan Vaid, Govinda’s co actor had to enact a scene in which he was to slap him. In a hustle bustle, Aryan by mistake hit the guy who instead of just enacting it…because of which the comedy king turned into a furious angry young man, and went straight up to the director and hit him hard, further abusing him, blaming him of doing the thing on purpose to humiliate him..You actually can not make out if uits a stunt to gain publicity or an actual issue, but whatever, it sure is a moral delimma on the name of sophisticated Bollywood actors.

I hate wearing bra: Rakhi Sawant

September 10, 2008

Rakhi Sawant’s sexiness kit would be devoid of a bra. Confused? Well, that’s our desi item bomb’s reply to Hollywood actress Carmen Electra’s concept of a sexiness kit.

Electra recently said that the best way to snare a man is to keep a ‘sexiness kit’ with you at all times. “Keep a sexiness kit in the car or in a drawer at work with the essentials in it — perfume, lip gloss, and a pair of heels because they’ll help you showcase your legs better.

Knowing you look hot also boosts your all-around confidence,” said the Baywatch babe.

Sawant completely agrees with Electra and says, “If I am wearing an evening gown, I’ll make sure I am not wearing a bra. I hate wearing it,” says the item girl who admits that she would, however, “wear a panty”.

“My lips are very pouty, my eyes are very sexy and my face is very glamorous.” She would besides keeping a bra at bay like to accentuate her assets with a nude lip gloss, mascara and eyebrow powder to make the eyebrows thicker and darker. The item girl also feels that a woman should always smell good. “Ladki main khusboo na ho, to mazaa nahi aayega.”

And her seduction tool is a D&G perfume.

The X-factor
While Sawant’s kit is loaded or rather unloaded with some ‘essentials’, actress Soha Ali Khan doesn’t need to lug around with one.

“My sexiness kit is always with me because it’s in my personality,” says the actress.

For Khan, sexiness primarily lies in one’s personality and then comes any other tangible item. “At the most, kajal comes handy. It helps sex up your look as they says eyes are the windows to your soul.”

Echoes actress and anchor Pooja Bedi, “Sexiness is inherent. You can beautify yourself with cosmetic surgeries, but that X-factor cannot be achieved with the help of tangible products.” Bedi’s votes go for a well groomed, clean and a happy person.

Model Sonalika Sahay moves beyond the kajal, lip gloss routine and calls for a kit that is rather huge. “A bright, flashy car would do the trick. Men are suckers for cars. They go for details like the wheels and the colour,” says Sahay and adds a red sedan works wonders.

“Besides the car, a watch is very feminine. Perhaps a Dior watch should be a must have in your kit,” she says.

Mom wouldn’t mind me being in live-in relationship: Esha Deol

September 4, 2008

Mumbai, (IANS) Esha Deol, daughter of actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, says that her mom wouldn’t mind her being in a live-in relationship before marriage and adds that her dream man should be like her dad.

“I believe in a love marriage and am looking for a guy who would have some qualities of my father,” said Esha, who will be seen next with Shiney Ahuja in “Hijack”.

“I think every girl wants her life partner to have some qualities of her father and I also want the same. My father has been the closest man in my life till now and I’m familiar with his qualities and therefore want my man to be like him,” Esha told IANS in an interview.

Although her parents are looking for a suitable match for her, the 25-year-old actress is not game for an arranged marriage.

“My mom is a modern kind of person and would not mind if I even go for a live-in relationship with someone. I think I would like to live with him for at least two years and then think of getting married.

“It’s always better to know a person well before marriage than getting divorced later,” she quipped.

According to Esha, she and her mother share many interests.

“Both of us like dancing and acting; therefore we share a lot of common things among us. Besides, she has been a constant support in my life.”

She said Hema is now trying to revive her banner H.M. Creations, which made Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Dil Aashna Hai” in 1992.

“My mom is very keen to revive her banner. She thinks this is the best time to start a project as the market has really grown during the past couple of years. Also, we believe in the saying ‘make hay when the sun shines’.”

Though they have decided to make a film, the script has not yet been finalised.

“We are going through various scripts, but nothing has been finalised yet.”

Esha debuted with “Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe” in 2002 and in the last six years featured in several films, but success has eluded her so far. She was a part of successful films like “Dhoom”, “Yuva” and “No Entry”, but all of them were multi-starrers.

After doing glamorous roles in run-of-the-mill films, Esha now wants to do some meaningful cinema.

“Though I am happy with my sexy image, I want to do meaningful cinema. There is nothing wrong being sexy as most of the actresses feel proud if they are termed as ‘sexy and hot’; so do I.

“But at the same time I want to do some films that also show my acting talent,” she said.

She is positive about “Hijack” and says it has tapped her acting potential in the right way.

“The role that I am playing in ‘Hijack’ is what I have never tried before. For the first time I will not be romancing my hero, neither will I be seen running around trees, not even in a dream sequence,” said Esha who plays an air hostess in the movie.

“My character is experienced and believes in herself and helps the protagonist, played by Shiney Ahuja, with all her experience in rescuing the passengers.”

She rubbished reports that she didn’t get along with Shiney on the sets of “Hijack”.

“It is not true at all. Shiney and I get along well and I think the media reports of my strained relations with him were just a publicity gimmick. I’m looking forward to do another film with him.”

Asked about working with debutant director Kunal Shivdasani, Esha said: “Kunal is an experienced ad filmmaker and he has applied his experience in making the film. He has shot the film aesthetically and also in a realistic way.”

“Hijack”, which also stars K.K. Raina and debutante Kaveri Jha in important roles, releases this Friday.

Rani Mukerji hates being called a Yash Raj heroine

September 4, 2008

Mumbai, (IANS) Rani Mukerji is upset about being branded as a resident Yash Raj Films heroine despite having done a large number of films with the banner.

“What exactly do people mean by this? Agreed Rani has done comparatively more films with the Yash Raj banner. But that’s because any heroine in Bollywood would be foolish to turn down an author-backed heroine-centric part like ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’. And so what if the film didn’t work? She’s very proud of the film and rates it among her best films,” a source close to the actress told IANS.

Rani has recently featured in three Yash Raj Films’ productions – “Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic”, “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag” and “Ta Ra Rum Pum”. Earlier, she has done films like “Bunty Aur Babli”, “Veer-Zaara” and “Hum Tum” for the banner.

The source added: “In fact, Rani makes it a point to remind people that lately she did Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’, Ravi Chopra’s ‘Baabul’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’. None of these is a Yash Raj film.”

And if rumours are to be believed, Rani is on the verge of signing a couple of films outside the Yash Raj banner.

“One, of course, is Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historical ‘Bajirao Mastani’, which is far from shelved. Sanjay plans to make the film in the near future. And while the rest of the cast may change, Rani as Bajirao’s wife remains in place. There are other films that Rani is seriously considering,” the source said.

“Some time ago Rani said no to Mira Nair’s ‘Namesake’ for emotional reasons. The excuse was dates. But Rani had her own reasons for foregoing a role that has changed Tabu’s career internationally.

“Today, Rani is in a space where she realises being hard-headed and business-like is what Bollywood is all about. She certainly doesn’t want to be branded a Yash Raj heroine.”

Rumours are rife that Rani acts like a hostess at Yash Raj Studios, but the allegation is strongly denied by people close to the organisation.

“This is all in people’s minds. Rani is at home in every production house. Have you seen her with Karan Johar or Sanjay Bhansali? She’s totally relaxed in their homes, has long chats with their moms and even goes into their kitchen at will,” said the source.

At the moment, Rani is busy preparing for her cricket film, which is being directed by Anurag Singh for the Yash Raj banner.

“It’s being said she’s agreed to work with a new director because of the banner. But hello … Rani has worked with Kunal Kohli and Shaad Ali. Even Karan Johar was a debutant when Rani did ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.”

Katrina on top with six hits in a row: critics

September 4, 2008

New Delhi, (IANS) British-born actress Katrina Kaif has delivered six back-to-back hits, bagged several brand endorsements and is now a highly sought after heroine – all the qualities needed to be crowned the reigning actress in Bollywood, say film critics.

“Katrina has immensely evolved as an actress. In Bollywood, actors are mostly known for the number of hits that they can deliver. Katrina has won in that respect hands down. She can undoubtedly be called a lucky mascot for her producers,” popular film critic Taran Adarsh told IANS over phone from Mumbai.

After wowing audiences in the recently released romantic comedy “Singh Is Kinng” opposite Akshay Kumar, Katrina has successfully displaced top-rung actors, including Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra.

Her success story started with “Namastey London” and continued with “Apne”, “Partner”, “Welcome”, “Race” and now “Singh Is Kinng”.

“Last year was simply fantastic and, touchwood, this year is the same. I would like to thank god. I believe in enjoying doing the work I’m doing. It is also good to know that the hard work I have put in has shown result. I will continue to do so,” Katrina said.

The 24-year-old star ventured into Bollywood in 2003 and was instantly written off because of her strong British accent. But after five years of hard work and determination, she is one of the most sought after actresses in the Hindi film industry.

Her next is Subhash Ghai’s “Yuvraaj”, which is about the arrogance and overconfidence of contemporary youth. Set to release in October, critics are confident that Katrina has another hit on the anvil in “Yuvraaj”.

Mumbai-based film critic Anupama Chopra says there are high expectations from Katrina’s performance in the movie.

“Katrina has had a fortunate choice of films” even though she “had a rather unfortunate start with ‘Boom’,” Chopra said.

“She is a stunning looking actress and so far she is doing well with her glam doll image. We did see glimpses of an actor in her performance-oriented roles such as in ‘Namastey London’,” Chopra explained.

Katrina is one of eight siblings, all girls. Her mother is British and her father is from Jammu and Kashmir who has since acquired British citizenship.

The actress spent her formative years in Hawaii but later moved to London. She started modelling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the age of 14. Thereafter she continued modelling in London till she moved to Mumbai in quest of a career in the world’s largest film industry.

She has also moved on to bigger banners and has teamed up with John Abraham and Neil Mukesh for a Yash Raj Films’ project. Apart from that, she will be seen in Rajkumar Santoshi’s next film, “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, with Ranbir Kapoor.

Besides spinning gold at the box office, Katrina also has an assorted line-up of brand endorsements. These include Nakshatra diamond jewellery and Veet hair removal cream among others.

The actress created waves when she replaced Aishwarya Rai as the brand ambassador of Nakshatra last month, besides bagging the crown of being the most downloaded Indian actress in cyber space.

“Katrina is the perfect representation of the young, trendy and fashionable woman that Nakshatra targets. We feel that Katrina lends a refreshing look to the brand. We are excited about having her on board as the new face for Nakshatra,” said Mehul Choksi, chairman, Gitanjali Group and Nakshatra.

Though the actress has acquired a star status in a short span, critics feel that she needs to work on more performance-based roles.

Said Chopra: “Katrina needs to evolve and emerge out of her glamorous image to do meatier roles like the ones Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta were doing two to three years ago.”
